Recapping The 2026 RTPI London Summit

It’s a wrap on the 2026 RTPI London Summit!

Our senior planner, Elliot Smith was part of the organising committee for this annual event, where planning and development professionals met at Transport for London’s Stratford headquarters for a day of debate and discussion around some of the most pressing issues facing Planning London’s Growth.

Elliot chaired one of the lunchtime panels on Balancing Infrastructure, Housing and the Environment. This session invited Ben Hopkins, Centre for Policy Studies; Julia Johnson, Hillingdon Council; Jonathan Wade, Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea; and Nicola Mathers, Future of London to debate the increasing pressures the Capital faces to deliver homes, infrastructure and investment. The panel focused on climate change response, opportunities to increase affordable housing across London, lessons from the Elizabeth Line we need to adopt for Crossrail and HS2, and how best to balance growth objectives and community interests.

Elliot said: “There was a real energy throughout the day, conversation flowed and there was active participation in all the discussions, proving there is a healthy appetite among the planning community to work together and help achieve successful, sustainable growth across London.”
