Upwards Extension Confirms Additional Apartments for Bromley
An upwards extension delivering new homes for Bromley has been approved.
A fifth floor extension to a former office block in the town centre will now be constructed to provide three new apartments, making a modest contribution towards Bromley Council’s current undersupply of housing.
“This permission marks the end of a multi-year planning strategy on this site,” explains our senior planner, Elliot Smith. “Originally comprising a four storey,1970/80s office block, the site had been occupied by several Class E uses until the third and fourth floors were converted to residential. We were appointed to manage a change of use application to transform the ground, first and second floors into serviced apartments and a large HMO, which we secured in April 2025.
“With the principle of development confirmed appropriate, our client sought permission for a single storey upwards extension comprising two studio apartments and one, two-bedroom apartment together with external alterations and enhancements. Following a positive pre-application meeting with Bromley’s Planning Officers and in collaboration with Bill Kain Architects, we developed this newly approved proposal. The extension will respect the character of the Bromley Town Centre Conservation Area while optimising the site with sustainable new homes,” adds Elliot.
